Charles Ballinger earned a B.A. in Urban Design from New York University. He served as head draftsman for Jon Hauk, Architect and worked in residential construction (Connecticut) before moving to New Jersey in 1976.
Chuck owned and operated "Creative Remodeling," a restoration/ remodel company for 8 years before relocating to California. Much of this work involved Victorian restorations.
Upon moving to Marin County, California, he opened a design/ build business called Ballinger Building & Remodeling.
For 14 years, he served as a member of the Strawberry Design Review Board. He chaired the board for 9 years and received its community service award in 1999.
In 2000, Chuck took a year off to embark on an adventure which involved scuba diving in every American state. He had been writing articles for eleven national magazines and realized this adventure would be an excellent means to portray a vast variety of scuba diving
opportunities. "An American Underwater Odyssey: 50 Dives in 50 States" was published in 2002 (Giant Stride Press).
Chuck began painting in the 1990's with a series of acrylic "social commentary" works. His portfolio can be found on this site. Many of his paintings can be purchased as greeting cards via this website.
Other experience includes certification and volunteeer work at Marin Mediation.
In 2010 all construction activity other than project consulting was suspended due to a shoulder condition (doctor mandated).
